Is this course for me?
If you are a new teacher employed in the post-compulsory
vocational training sector and need to gain a formal

programme, particularly suitable for vocational teachers. The

sector. The Diploma is taught over two years. Completion of

What will I study?
This course offers practical teacher training leading to fully
qualified status. Participants learn to teach on the job, in their
work place, supported and guided by a subject specialist mentor and
supervised by tutor and employer. The teaching component is
delivered over a period of at least 2 years, with evidence being
collected through practical work, observations, collaboration with
colleagues and personal investigation and reflection. There are
eight component units covering planning, preparation, delivery,
assessment, management, curriculum development, quality and
tutoring: Assessment elements from Units 1 and 2 combine to form
the initial Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning
Sector. In line with LLUK guidance this forms an introductory
programme for new teachers, and confers a threshold 'licence' to
practice. Units 1 and 2 together form the Certificate in Teaching
in the Lifelong Learning Sector and the remaining units 3 to 8
complete the Diploma.

subject teaching.
You will be invited to the College for an interview and written
assessment, and will need to give evidence of a recent CRB check.
You would normally be expected to hold a Level 3 subject specific
qualification and a Level 2 in English. However, those who don't
