Overview
This one year course is aimed at those who want to be introduced to a range of skills in theatrical and special effects hair and make-up. If you haven’t studied media make-up before and are new to the industry, this qualification will give you skills in specialised aspects of industry practice. This course is a practical application of skills and will gain you an A level equivalent qualification, suitable for employment in Junior positions within the industry.

Entry Requirements
3 GCSE C grades or above, including English and maths or a relevant level 2 qualification with functional skills English and maths. You must have an interest in the make-up industry and demonstrate an ability to communicate and follow the professional standards set by the awarding bodies.

Course Duration
One year – Full time.

Skills and Benefits
This course will enable you to gain more advanced practical skills and knowledge in order to provide Hair, Special Effects including prosthetics and bald caps and Media Make-up to the general public and to gain employment in the Hair, Photographic and Media Make-up Industry. Course Assessment
As part of this qualification you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in electronic or paper format. Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms: Observed work Witness statements Audio-visual media Evidence of prior learning or attainment Multiple Choice question exams Oral questions Assignments Case studies External Exam

Progression
Level 2 Diploma's in Manicure, Pedicure and Waxing or Beauty Specialists. Alternatively Level 3 Diploma's in Beauty Therapy, Massage and Electrotherapy Treatments, Nail Treatments or Foundation Degrees in Fashion and editorial make-up or Media Make-up.
