This qualification aims to assist organisations in complying with current legislation on disability and to develop individual employees to understand the wider context of disability and how this should be put into practice within their workplace. It also attempts to challenge individual's attitudes towards disability and to explore the barriers that are faced by disabled people. Suitable for: This qualification is suitable for learners working in any sector who may come into contact with disabled people.

Course programme
The aim of this qualification is to enable learners to develop a broad understanding of disability. The course is comprised of one unit which aims to develop knowledge and understanding of disability impairment and the social model of disability.
The course will be assessed by completing 15 multiple-choice questions within 25 minutes. The answers will be marked externally by EDI.
What can l do on completion?
This course provides under pinning knowledge of disability. Knowledge gained from this course can also be used as evidence of prior learning for other qualifications such as NVQ's and higher education courses.
The award is made up of Five assignments covering the teaching role, teaching and learning approaches, session planning, delivering inclusive sessions and assessment, and which include a minimum of 15 minutes observed micro teaching practice and a further 45 minutes observing others teach. Learners should complete a proforma for each assignment.
