Course programme

This course has been developed for learners who wish to gain a basic understanding of the difference between disability and impairment and to explore what attitudes and barriers disabled people face and how they have come about. There are a number of new duties placed on services and organisations to ensure they do not discriminate against disabled people. The course aims to assist organisations in complying with current legislation on disability and to develop individual employees to understand the wider context of disability and how this should be put into practice within their workplace. It also attempts to challenge individual’s attitudes towards disability and to explore the barriers that are faced by disabled people.
