Course programme
It provides opportunities to develop the candidates' understanding of professional research in education and to apply this knowledge in carrying out research related to a given educational context.
The approach is intended to encourage a more holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to understanding the professional context of education.
During the first year of full-time candidature (or first two years part-time), students undertake two core Doctoral level components of the structured program by studying courses in Research Design and Research Processes.
These prepare the students to undertake a focused literature search and plan their subsequent research project.
Additionally students take two Doctoral level electives from a choice of research methods courses.
The remaining time is devoted to completing one 60,000 word research project on a particular professional issue or problem.
Admission RequirementsA successful application to a Doctor of Education program involves a number of considerations:Academic background and ExperienceAn applicant must demonstrate that they have both the required academic entry qualifications and the professional experience to successfully complete a Doctor of Education as detailed in the academic program rules.
English Language Proficiency RequirementAs English is the language of instruction at the University of Adelaide, all applicants must provide evidence of their proficiency before an offer of a place is made.
