20-Day Dog Grooming Course
We suggest that all potential students visit us before deciding
on a new career, we hold regular "open mornings" which are free. At the
"open mornings you will meet staff, former students, future students and
talk with the present course. Hopefully the day will give you a clear idea
whether dog grooming is for you.
Each students starts with the very basics of handling the dog correctly,
grooming out all the knots from the coat and getting it ready for the
bath. There is a whole range of dog grooming shampoos and conditioners,
each one having its own special purpose.
You will be taught how to dry
the dog correctly and get it ready for trimming and styling.
All the preparation work is done to City & Guilds 7750-02 Intermediate
standard and provides you with the underpinning knowledge ready for when
you want to be assessed and examined for your City & Guilds 7750-02
Intermediate certificate. All City & Guilds 7750-02 Intermediate
assessments and examinations are conducted "in house".
The City & Guilds 7750-02 Intermediate course can be taken at any time
after the 20 day course has been completed. You just need to select a date
from the "availability list".
Once you have mastered all the preparation basics you move on to styling,
this involves learning scissor and clipping techniques. Some people take
to it very quickly others take a little longer, everybody masters the
skills, it really is a matter of lots and lots of practice.
Each
day you will normally work on one dog, this will be allocated to you by
your tutor the evening before. This gives you plenty of time to watch the
Dvds, read your course notes and look at the grooming books in
the classroom.
