To enable practitioners working with children and families experiencing domestic abuse to undertake appropriate assessments of risk without endangering further the family members involved. To enable practitioners, within their particular work role, to work in partnership with children and families to make appropriate safety plans. Suitable for: Any Social care staff working with children & families within Cardiff or the Vale from Police, Probation, Health, Social Services, Education, Commissioned Providers, or any other. agency working within the C&V boundaries.

Outline Content
- Explain how children may be used by perpetrators of domestic violence as part of their abuse of known women;
- Identify the knowledge and skills required to undertake a risk assessment and facilitate the coordination of an appropriate holistic safety plan;
- Recognise factors that impact heavily on the lives of
women and children, following the end of a relationship with a perpetrator of domestic abuse; - Describe the effectiveness of agencies developing an holistic approach to addressing domestic abuse.
