What's it all about?:
Changes in legislation have brought about the need for persons installing electrical accessories, wiring etc in domestic properties to have an appropriate level of competence. The aim of this course is to provide tradespeople with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills to install, inspect, test and certificate circuits to current standards.
Progression:
Registered Competent Person Scheme with an accredited awarding body.
Entry Requirements:
This course is designed for tradespeople who have some prior knowledge of electrical installation as part of their job e.g. kitchen installer, gas fitter, plumber, bathroom installer etc.
It is essential that course delegates bring with them a copy of the Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations (updated to IEE 17th Edition) ISBN 978-0-86341-862-4 and On-Site Guide (BS 7671:2008 17th Edition) ISBN 978-0-86341-854-9.
Duration: Two weeks

Are there any exams?:
There are nine modules which are classroom-based and assessment of these is by multiple choice examination. There are also 11 practical tasks and the assessments associated with these tasks are devised to prove competence in such areas as inspection and testing, work planning, documentation completion, identification of non-compliances in accordance with BS7671:2008 etc.
