What you need to know
How will I study?

This highly practical specification provides learners with the opportunity to work as either performers and/or designers on three different performances. In Component 1 learners reinterpret a text to create a piece of theatre which is a combination of the selected text and original ideas. In Component 2 learners engage with a stimulus to create two pieces of theatre; one an interpretation of a text of their own choice and the other a devised piece. While preparing their practical work, learners will explore the work of two theatre practitioners (individuals or companies) of their own choice and then apply their research to their performances or designs. In Component 3, learners explore two complete performance texts and one extract from a third text, covering a range of time periods and styles.
How will I be taught?

The course will consist of practical workshops and theoretical lessons. You will rehearse and present your practical performances in class; work on group projects and presentations relating to your set texts and participate in discussion and acting activities throughout the year. Attendance of theatre performance either live or streamed is encouraged throughout the year.
How will I be assessed?

This is a 2 year linear A-level . 60% will be non-exam assessment and 40% will be exam assessment. The written exam for the studying of your texts will take place at the end of the two years. Practical and course work will be assessed over the two years.
