You will learn in detail about one set play text and one prescribed historical period of theatre development. You will research the history of theatre and discuss in detail in a written exam lasting 2hrs 30mins.

How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed through both internal and external assessments through the above units.

What enrichment will there be?
Activities include:
· Visit to London.
· The Royal Exchange Theatre.
· Lowry Theatre.

What could I do next?
Theatre studies should not be dismissed as a course only for hopeful actors, or for those who enjoy practical work. It is an academic qualification and carries the same value as other A-Level courses. You can progress to university to study a range of subjects at degree level.
You can progress on to teaching, media, psychology, law, public relations etc. as well as theatre and acting degrees or acting schools. Notable previous successes include high profile scriptwriters, artistic directors, BAFTA award-winning actors, teachers and lawyers.
