Drawing - Art Summer School
Your Course
Working through simple drawing projects, we will cover the basic skills of drawing. Looking at the still life, objects and landscape (weather permitting), we will study light and shade, composition, represent space and form, and mark making. The course offers a thorough introduction to a variety of drawing materials including charcoal, chalks, pencil and ink. This course is suitable for beginners and those wishing to refresh their drawing skills.
Students to use their own materials ? drawing boards provided.
· Putty rubber - small
· Standard eraser
· 2b + 8b pencil
· 8b thin graphite stick
· Box of medium and thick natural charcoal
· Conte carre stick ? black 2b + sanguine
· Cartridge paper sketch pad, A3 130gm or 150gm medium texture, not spiral bound
· 1 x sheet each of A3 Ingres and Canson mi-tiente-White + Subtle Light Greys
· Masking Tape ? 1??
· Spray Fixative Or Hairspray
· A3 lighweight Drawing Board (Heffers)
Learning Outcomes
Sheila Bryan initially trained as a textile designer at Middlesex Polytechnic, then moved to working as a fine artist. She has exhibited in several major public exhibitions and numerous private exhibitions. Sheila has also been working as a garden designer with a particular interest in perennial and grass plantings.
Your Tutor
This course will give you the opportunity to gain:
· Skills in observational drawing and confidence to tackle any subject.
· Be able to use different media to successfully describe your subject.
· Understanding of drawing as an art form through the study of individual artists.
Day and time: Monday 10am-3pm
Start date: 20th, 21st & 22ndJuly
Number of sessions: 3
Tuition fees: £70
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.
Half term:
Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
