Content
As drawing is the essential process of developing ideas across many disciplines this course is aimed at a wide range of art practices, such as graphic design, performance, time based media and fine art.
The course has a cross-disciplinary perspective that promotes an expansive role for drawing which explores technology as a tool developed within a digital environment. This facilitates a reconsideration of drawing and its platform for distribution. By using a range of widely available commercial, open-source software and hardware such as digital drawing tablets and webcams, students will be encouraged to use a diverse range of technical medium such as vlogs, blogs, podcasts, GPS and in which to participate, distribute and discuss contemporary drawing practice.
Structure
The course is structured through three main components, which are supported by online collaborative sessions, research methods workshops, critical writing workshops, theory seminars, individual and group tuition. The First component involves the student group making a piece of collaborative work. The Second component comprises a series of personal research workshops involving practical and theoretical enquiry leading to a developed proposal for the Third component, a realisation of work and appropriate curatorial approaches that culminate in the final exhibition.
Dedication
2 years, part-time.
