Drawing & Painting - Workshop

SC0016

Is there an interview?
No

What can I progress to?

What is the course about?
This is a workshop and is therefore loosely structured. The course is suitable for people who are essentially enthusiastic and eager to learn. All abilities are welcome.

What are the course outcomes?
Students will learn about perspective, how to improve their composition, and will have a greater understanding of colour. They will also learn how to apply oil paints watercolours and pastels. Their powers of observation will be improved, their minds will be opened to all kinds of possibilities using different mediums and they will feel much more confident and less cautious - motivated to experiment at home as well.
The students attending this workshop will not be confined to a tightly structured course - they will have the freedom to experiment. In the autumn term the task will be a landscape or seascape to be selected from preparatory sketches or photos and a painting will be produced. However, the class is not encouraged to slavishly copy - instead create their own compositions, perhaps highlighting or exaggerating what they see. They can then continue to use their own personal reference to paint from or I will set up an interesting still life. In the summer months there will be occasional trips.

How will you be assessed?
There is no formal assessment, but a student will be awarded a certificate for this course provided he/she has attended at least 80% of the sessions.

Is there an examination fee?
No.
