2. Course description This course will encourage learners to explore a range of materials and techniques and by doing so to develop their skills. Learners will be shown the importance of learning to really closely observe, as well as getting a feel of the materials and equipment they use. Throughout the course you will work from sketchbook, photographs, found images or direct observation. There will be a life model (unclothed) available for two weeks. Learners will be encouraged to share their observations and discoveries with one another as part of the process. A relaxed and supportive environment will be offered in order for you to have fun and produce confident artworks.

3. Entry requirements The course is suitable for anyone wishing to develop their creativity through drawing and painting. Learners should be prepared to meet challenges with an open mind.We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. Please let staff know if you require any extra support when you enrol and they will arrange for a member of the Supported Learning Team to contact you to discuss your support needs. Surrey Adult Learning values and supports equality and diversity by promoting fairness and respect at all times. 4. Equipment required Clothing to work in. A2 cartridge pad, pencils, charcoal, gum rubber, craft knife, masking tape, colour materials of choice (pastels, acrylics, gouache, etc). Materials will be discussed in the first session 5.
