Course programme

DRAWN TO SCULPTURE 2D and 3D NEW!
Tutor: Julieann Worrall Hood
1-day drawing and sculpture course

Capture the movement and character of our farm animals and wildlife. Working from life sketches, develop your ideas into mixed media, small wire 3D maquettes and on to more resolved pieces incorporating wire, found and recycled materials.

Course Outline:
A 3 day course to develop sketches into lively sketch sculptures which capture the very essence of the animals and birds you are observing. We will be taking inspiration from the Contemporary African Drawings and Sculpture exhibition in the gallery at Rabley to go out onto the surrounding farm and observe the livestock, wild animals and birds. The first day will be spent making quick sketches to capture movement, detail and overall form. Working initially in sketchbooks and then using mixed media, collage and fine wires to make small, experimental maquettes.

During the subsequent 2 days these gestural sketches and maquettes will be worked up into larger sculptures, incorporating found objects and recycled materials.
Please start collecting and recycling bottletops, wires, packaging materials, whatever catches your eye. There will be an opportunity to swap materials with fellow students and use some of Julieann’s collection of ephemera.
