Driver Development Training (Defensive Driving)

Course review:

Previously known as 'Defensive Driving', this enhanced course now incorporates defensive driving and fuel-saving techniques. Each course will be tailored around the needs of individual delegates, following a training needs assessment. It is designed to form part of a life-long programme of driver development.

RoSPA offers the following driver development training courses, which are tailored to the needs of the vehicle in question:

• Motorbikes
• Cars
• Light commercial vehicles
• Large goods vehicles
• Passenger-carrying vehicles, including minibuses

What will they learn?

A good understanding of how to maximise safety margins and minimise risks when driving in town, country and motorway environments.

Course content includes:

• Defensive driving techniques
• Group discussions on the causes of risks
• Individual driving assessment with driver development advice and coaching
• Practical coaching sessions covering the application of defensive driving techniques
• Observation skills and anticipation of potential hazards
• A performance report outlining key learning points and areas for improvement

Delegates can now upgrade to a Level 2 BTEC in Driver Development.
