DRL Workshop Leader Training 001

This pilot course will take you through the basic principles of the organisation Developing Real Learners (DRL) and how to help others understand them. It will help you to understand the principals and ideas that you need to convey to teachers you mentor.

We will explore ideas of designing and facilitating an effective session on learner-development-centred approaches to education and on developing a learning organisation.

You will notice that there is a shift in vocabulary – we don’t refer to students but to learners or ‘young people’ and what they do at school is not ‘work’ but learning or assignments.

The reasons for this will become apparent through the course. The course gradually takes you through the course that is intended for teachers. If you can do the course, then if you’re happy about it, you can develop a face-to-face course and teach it.

Through teaching we understand. Your course participants will end up teaching you as much as the course does. You will help design this course as much as I have. On this matter, what you take to your people needs to be culturally sensitive.

All the ideas from DRL are just that – ideas – and we hope they will inspire people to adopt the vision – to help all young people become the best holistic learners they can be – through their own cultural perspective thus allowing them to identify what is important in their culture for developing great learners and thus strengthen the positive force of their culture.

So, go into this course as yourself, without competition, without ego, just as someone who will take an idea to inspire others and change the world.
