Introduction:
This course looks at drug use in society and their affects on individuals. You will research and build a portfolio of evidence which meets national standards. The course has been accredited by the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority (QCA), as part of the National Qualifications Framework. The qualification was originally developed by NCFE and Wigan Drug Action Team.

Study Mode & Location:
This 3 week part-time day course will last for 3 hours per week. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
This course will provide you with an awareness of:

  • the types of drugs and why they are used.
  • the social and personal effects of drug use and how these are commonly portrayed.
  • perceptions of and responses to drug use.


The qualification comprises one mandatory unit namely:

  • Unit 1: Develop an awareness of drug use.


Assessment:
Assessment will be by completion of a portfolio of evidence.

  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Drug Awareness.

You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
