Course programme
This one day training workshop is for people who wish to explore and develop an understanding
of the complex issues that surround substance use and its potential for
abuse by staff or service users.
Drugs and alcohol affect more than just the individual. Education in the management of drug use is key, and this course equips learners with the confidence they will need to tackle drug related issues in and out of their workplace.
The course will use a variety of teaching methods , including video, practising scenarios, myths quiz, and handout material.
Who should attend?Staff working in social care, teachers in school, people working in addiction centres or drop in centres for the homeless, organisations and any sector where it is essential to have evidence of learning to this subject. The course can also be adapted for school children who need an awareness of drugs and addictive behaviours they may come across in their younger years.

• What to do if? Learners practice interventions with scenarios
• Understand the implications of criminal activity for SU’s and support
workers
• Know where to source your employers policy on drugs
• What to do to reduce the risk of misuse
