About this course
You will need to keep a log of 75 hours teaching for the diploma, 5 hours of which will be observed by a colleague in your workplace. Teaching can be either on a 1:1 basis or in a group and must be over at least 2 levels.

QUALIFICATIONS
To teach Numeracy you would need to do the Level 5 Diploma in teaching Numeracy in the lifelong learning sector (or equivalent). At Bright we also offer the Level 5 Diploma in teaching Literacy.
HOW IS THE TRAINING DELIVERED
You are allocated a mentor who will support you throughout the course and who will be available to answer any questions. She/he will contact you within 48hours of registering to introduce themselves.
The course is delivered though an online learning course (Moodle), consisting of virtual lessons, reading, questions and activities. Each module is covering a different aspect of the course and includes activities.
At the end of each unit there are specified assignments to complete, which are marked and internally moderated.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTERWARDS
Once you have completed the additional DTLLS diploma, it will enable you to be employed in a teaching role for either Literacy/Numeracy. You will be able to teach the skills for life element of apprenticeships.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE
The total guided learning hours for each additional DTLLS diploma (either Literacy or Numeracy) is 120 plus 75 hours teaching each. This is made up of Moodle, assignments as well as self study. The course length is 1-3 months per diploma. However you can complete it in your own pace. There are two modules to complete or each diploma.
