BA (Hons) (top up) Early Years Childcare

Course Overview
This one year BA (Hons) Top up programme is taught at UCBC but validated by Lancaster University. It is primarily aimed at those students progressing from the Foundation Degree in Young Children's Learning and Development - although progression from other related Foundation Degrees may be possible, subject to the units studied. The programme acknowledges the need to embed recent Government policies and key initiatives with the Early Years Sector and the opportunity to create experienced practitioners to achieve the new Early Years Professional status (EYPS).

What will I study?
You will study 5 modules taught on a long thin, basis to ensure a planned sustained programme of independent and advanced academic learning, and ongoing personal and practice based development. These modules will examine the theories and principles relating to professional practice within the early years childcare and education sector. To prepare those students who wish to pursue EYPS status, the course is mapped against the standards and as such is structured to cover four core units and to give students the choice of undertaking an optional module.

Progression

Students graduating from the programme will be awarded a BA (Hons) Early Years Childcare from Lancaster University. You will have an outstanding portfolio of units undertaken which will enable you to take advantage of exciting career opportunities. Should you wish to achieve EYPS status, holding a BA (Hons) degree will allow you to complete the necessary professional on a 'fast track' basis - ie three months.
