What you need to know
How will I study?

The course is divided into four main themes, Theme 1- Introducing the role of the early years practitioner, Theme 2 – Legislation, framework and professional practice, Theme 3 – Play, development and learning for school, Theme 4 – Professional development. These themes provide the focus for both class based and practice based learning. If you are a full time student aged 16-18 you will follow a study programme which will consist of your main course, enterprise and enrichment activities, English and Maths as well as work experience.
How will I be taught?

Teaching will take place both in the classroom and in placement. Class based lessons will include group work, self-study and practical tasks. Within the placement, learning will be supported by a Placement Supervisor.
How will I be assessed?

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or set tasks. Some learning outcomes within this qualification will require assessment in a real work environment.
