This full time 12 month training programme is designed for graduates who wish to specialise in early childhood development and lead education and care for children from birth to five years. As an Early Years ITT Graduate Entry trainee you will work towards Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) by demonstrating the Teachers’ Standards (Early Years). Working as an early years teacher is a rewarding and challenging career and you can make a real difference to young children’s development and life chances. To enhance your progress towards achieving EYTS, graduate entry trainees also enrol on the PG Cert Professional Practice in Early Years Foundation Stage Teaching which enables you to gain 60 credits at Masters Level.

Interviews, entrance tests, portfolios and auditions
All applicants for Early Years ITT are required to pass the Department for Education professional skills tests in numeracy and literacy. If you haven't passed the professional skills tests at the time of your interview, your offer will be conditional on passing the tests by an assigned date.

Course programme
There are 2 components to the PG Cert which are assessed by coursework and cross referenced against the Teachers’ Standards (Early Years).
Module 1: Professional knowledge and skills for the Early Years Teacher
The academic credits for this part of the programme track the process of your professional training and your capacity to reflect on your developing role as an Early Years Teacher in leading practice with children from birth to five years.
Module 2: Work Based Learning Project
The focus of the project is on leading change within your early years placement setting by developing an aspect of professional practice.

The Graduate Entry Route training course fee is funded by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL).
The following bursaries are available for eligible applicants:
£5,000 for graduates with a first class degree
£4,000 for graduates with a 2:1 degree
£2,000 for graduates with a 2:2 degree
