The Beverage Service Apprenticeships acts as an entry and progression route for new staff in the sector, and to up skill existing staff. It is a high quality, prestigious learning and development programme, valued by employers. Apprentices will develop skills, knowledge and their competence which is required to become a professional in hospitality based job roles, such as a Bar / Cellar person or barista.

About this course
The framework will improve and build on skills that will fit in with the job role where you could be doing tasks such as:
- Taking drink orders
- Ensure that tables are cleaned quickly and efficiently
- Preparing and checking bills and receiving payment
- Help set up the bar area
- Stock the shelves and refrigerators
- Serve snacks and a wide range of alcoholic/ non-alcoholic drinks
- Washing glasses
- Clear up after service
- Maintaining a high standard of customer care and taking opportunities to maximise sales discreetly
These qualifications are for all learners aged 16 and above who are capable of reaching the required standards.

These NVQs are applicable for people working, or wishing to work, in a wide range of hospitality and catering businesses, for example:

There are no formal qualifications required to complete this course as all training is provided.

Qualifications are delivered in the workplace, so assessors will visit you on a monthly basis with your employer to undertake work towards this qualification.

Course programme
To achieve the full qualification, learners must attain a minimum of 37 credits.
- Learners must achieve all 11 credits from the mandatory units (Group A)
- A minimum of 7 credits from the optional units in Group A1 must be obtained
- The remaining 19 credits can come from the units in A1 or B1
