This Build your own MA (BYOMA) short course is ideal for journalists seeking to broaden their awareness of the challenges of editorial leadership, whilst being able to engage with current and relevant issues. The course covers issues such as quality, standards and news values, as well as areas such as leadership, managing change and team building.
This course will examine what constitutes ‘good’ leadership and reflect on the importance of inspiring others by example and good practice. It will also seek to establish how leaders can be creative and nurture creativity in others, as well as examining the challenges of managing change. It will incorporate the experiences of key leaders in journalism and will enable students to engage in a master class with editorial leaders. This course seeks to combine insights to the art of building teams and leading them with confidence, whilst upholding standards in an era of rapid change.
Learning will be centred on the latest developments in journalism practice and will draw on your own experiences in the working environment.
