The course is in partnership with London Metropolitan University.

Who is this course for? The programme is designed for classroom assistants who wish to improve their career prospects and those wishing to progress onto the Registered Teacher Programme or BA Honours in Early Years or Educational Studies.

What do I need to get on the course? You should have a Level 3 qualification (e.g. CACHE/BTEC Diploma, or A-Levels) and, at least two years full time experience of working with children in a primary school classroom. You should currently be working in a primary school, either as a paid employee or a volunteer.
Applicants with other relevant qualifications and appropriate experience will be considered on an individual basis.
You also need two satisfactory references, and clearance from the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) to work with young children.
International applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis with equivalent qualifications being accepted.

What will I study? There are sixteen modules on the programme, 8 are taught in the first year and 8 in the second year. Assessments draw on both professional skills you develop in the workplace and theoretical understanding gained by the taught components of the course. You need to identify a mentor (usually based in your school).

What qualification will I get? On successful completion you will gain an Education: Primary Pathway Foundation Degree, awarded by London Metropolitan University

What can I do after the course? You may either progress to a BA Honours in Education Degree programme or gain direct entry to a Registered Teacher Programme at London Metropolitan University, or at any other suitable University.
