About the course If you are currently working as a teaching assistant (or in another educational setting with children) and wish to work towards a professional qualification, this course is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and expertise you need for working with pupils, other adults and teachers. Designed specifically to suit your existing work commitments, it builds on the experience you have already gained in the classroom to combine academic theory and understanding of best practice. It can provide a route to a teaching qualification – on completion you have the opportunity to join the BA Applied Education Studies course, after which you may choose to progress to Primary PGCE/Schools Direct/ SCITT programmes to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

About this course
A foundation degree will be of particular interest if you have completed a Modern Apprenticeship, vocational A levels, BTEC National or equivalent. Foundation degrees are also particularly suitable if you want to qualify while working. / entry As a guideline, a typical offer would require you to obtain a UCAS tariff score of between points, based on your level 3 studies. Many students studying for foundation degrees come to us through work-based routes so you can apply for a foundation degree even if you don't have traditional academic qualifications. .
