Electrical / Electronic Engineering is a broad industry encompassing management, cutting edge technology and engineering understanding.
This course is intended to be a progression from level 3 apprenticeships and for those who wish to study at a higher level on a part time basis. It offers vocationally relevant subjects that will enhance knowledge of the industry as well the softer skills like time management. Typically this will be day release, encompassing twilight sessions and an expectation at this level that a proportion of the course is independent study.

Course programme
During the first two years you will study the following modules towards a Higher National Certificate: Core – Analytical Methods for Engineering Core – Engineering Science Core - Project Design, Implementation & Evaluation Business Improvement Techniques Business Management Techniques for Engineers Manufacturing Planning & Scheduling Principles Manufacturing Process Materials Engineering In the third year you will study towards the Higher National Diploma. The modules covered are: Microprocessor Systems Electrical and Electronic Measurement & Testing Further Analytical Methods for Engineers Digital & Analogue Devices & Circuits Instrumentation and Control Principles Principles of Electronic Product Manufacture In addition to the above units, twilight sessions and tutorials will also cover the following: Personal and Professional Development Work-based Experience The HNC/HND in electrical and electronic engineering will develop core competencies for the practicing engineer alongside softer skills such as business techniques and time management. The range of skills acquired will provide a pathway into diverse career opportunities within the engineering sector. This course will be delivered at the University Centre (formerly College House).
