This ‘Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations’ course is designed to support learners in developing practical skills and knowledge in preparation for a future career within the Electrotechnical Industry. The practical aspects of the course will include carrying out a range of electrical installations (including materials used in Domestic, Commercial and Industrial environments). Learners will gain an insight into the industry, including working practices, installation skills and techniques.

What you need to know
How will I study?

This qualification consists of several unit components: • Unit 201/501: Health and safety in building services engineering. • Unit 202: Principles of electrical science • Unit 203: Electrical installations technology • Unit 204: Installation of wiring systems and enclosures • Unit 210: Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering
How will I be taught?

Theory tuition for the course is by a blend of class based lessons, detailed hand outs and one to one support by regular seminars. Practical training will include specific lessons, demonstrations and assignment packs to record information and completion progress for the wiring systems. These packs are a valuable source of tutor feedback and provide a good demonstration of competence for potential employers. An on-line resource (called MOODLE) is also available to support homework activities.
How will I be assessed?

The formal assessments for the course include on-line exams and practical assessments with some written short answer responses. There will be a number of short theory and practical tests throughout the year to provide individual feedback on progress in the course.
