Course programme
In your first year, you will study a wide variety of topics which will give you a basic understanding of the working of everyday appliances and equipment. Topics studied will include Hi fi Systems, Amplifiers, Alarm Systems and Microcontrollers (which are found in devices like iPods and mobile phones).
In your second year, you will look at many of these subjects in greater depth. New topics you will study include radios, computers and programming, power supplies, and video displays.
- You must satisfy the general entry criteria for A Level courses, which are based on your GCSE results.
- In addition, you must achieve at least grade B in GCSE Maths, and B in both GCSE Core and Additional Science or grade B in two Science subjects if you are taking triple Science.
International students:
- Equivalent overseas qualifications will be considered.
- IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in each skill) or equivalent.
Assessment is by exam at the end of each year. Passing the first year gains you an AS Level in Electronics. Passing the second gains you an A2 Level in Electronics.
Studied with a practical Science subject or Maths, this course could help you further your interest in either Electronics or Science at university or other Higher Level institution.
