About this course
If you've taken Core Science, you must have passed Core, and either Additional Science, Electronics or Physics.
If you've taken single subject Sciences, you must have passed Physics.
If you have taken GCSE Science double award, you must have a double pass.
You must have a pass in both Maths and an English subject.

What will I study
Introductory electronics: system synthesis; logic gates and Boolean algebra; current, voltage, power and resistance; diodes; resistive input devices; transistors and MOSFETs; output devices; combinational logic circuits.
Further electronics:; sequential logic systems; counters; operational amplifiers; operational, inverting, non-inverting & summing amplifiers; ; 555 timers; power amplifiers. capacitors; RC networks.
Practical System Development - building a system that you have researched and adapted in order to solve a problem and then testing it any making any modifications.
Assessment
Two units assessed by examination; the third through coursework which is designed to take about 30 hours.
Passes in Applied Science and BTEC First Diploma in Science do not count as valid qualifications for this course.
