Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT-B)
Description
The EMT-B course provides participants with the essential knowledge and skills required to provide basic emergency care in the field.
By building on the skills and knowledge gained on either a First Aid or First Responder course, this 10 day course presents EMT-FR‟s with the opportunity to extend their skills and knowledge. This will enable participants to competently deliver an enhanced level of emergency care to the sick and injured in the field.
To remain registered and qualified at this grade, attendance at our three day annual recertification course, which includes a CPR/AED update is required together with evidence of participants on-going CPD.
Duration
Up to one month of pre-course learning followed by an eleven day course consisting of theory and scenario based practical work. The summative assessment takes place on day eleven.

Certification
Subject to assessment, all participants will be awarded an EMT-B certificate approved by the Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT). This qualification is valid for one year (subject to meeting annual recertification requirements) and is linked to your international registration as an EMT-B.
