Course programme
You will be set projects covering a range of enameling techniques. You will be taught through practical demonstrations, group and individual tuition and you will learn from hands on experience.
You will actively take part in:
• cutting, annealing and cleaning copper and silver
• sifting/dusting enamel powder
• washing and wet laying enamel powder
• firing enamels using a torch and the kiln
• practicing the enamelling techniques of scraffito (scratching through a layer), using stencils (stickers or wet paper) and glass beads, sticks or chips
• Producing pendants or buttons from a copper coins
Assessment Methods:
What do I need to bring with me to class?
Any silver sheet you got and/or jewellery pieces which you want to enamel.
A notebook/sketchbook, you can also record demonstrations on smart phones to review again at a later date, so techniques and keys points are picked up. Please bring an apron.
This specialist course has been identified to run with fewer numbers due to either the student demand for the course and subject area or the need for increased one to one tuition. This course will be able to run with only 6 learners and will have a maximum of 10 in the class.
