Senior Tutor
Elaine is a jewellery artist and designer, having worked with both PMC and Art Clay for the past 10 years. "I still have the same passion for the material as I did on the day that I opened my first packet and hopefully this is reflected in the classes that I teach. Having previously worked with ceramic clay it was a wonderful progression/addition to my work. I love to combine silver clay with ceramic, glass and enamel and love to experiment with various combinations of materials. I am a Senior Metal Clay Tutor and hold a City & Guilds 7407 in Teaching in Further Education and am currently working on Metal Clay Masters Registery I
Course programme
Silver and copper metal clay lends itself beautifully to enamel . On this wonderful two day course, learn all the skills you will need to apply enamel powders to this medium. We will cover different enamelling techniques, what colours are easier to work with and how to apply to curved objects.
Firing techniques will also be discussed including the microwave kiln and torch firing. We will aim to make a number of projects including silver and copper clay and apply different enamelling techniques. Some items may fired but not fully polished due to time restraints but these can be fully finished at home or in your studio. Ideally you should have some working knowledge of silver clay before attending this course.
