Engineering BTEC Introductory Diploma Level 1

About the course:
This qualification provides you with the opportunity to acquire useful personal skills, building up your individual confidence, as well as a broad introduction to the engineering industry, by developing your understanding of the relevant practical skills and associated knowledge needed in this field of work.

The course is designed to enable you, where appropriate, to study other subjects alongside your BTEC Introductory.There are three core units, two personal skills units and three vocational option units which add up to a total of 360 guided learning hours.

The structure of the course allows you to develop your interests and to gain a broad range of appropriate practical and underpinning knowledge, which can enable you to undertake initial work or pursue further study.The course will open up a variety of subjects for you to study, which, according to your preferences, might include financial management, assembling mechanical components and joining using welding techniques, electronic assembly and electronic wiring or starting work in engineering.

Progression:
By successfully undertaking the BTEC Introductory Diploma in Engineering you should acquire increased self reliance and an awareness of the vocational skills needed in the engineering sector. This will give you a strong starting point for entering the workplace in an appropriate support role, following additional training and encouragement.

Having achieved the BTEC Introductory Diploma in Engineering, it may be possible to further your personal development and employability by undertaking another BTEC Introductory qualification in a vocational area that interests you. Alternatively, you could progress to a qualification at Level 2, such as a BTEC First Diploma in Engineering, or you could work towards an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) in a specific area of skills, especially if you would be working in a related area
