The programme provides a structured approach to achieving skilled or technician status within the industry. This is an advanced study course following on from the NVQ2 course. You will specialise in one area from either; Electrical, Mechanical or Fabrication. Suitable for: 16-24 year olds interested in gaining a nationally recognised qualification in Engineering as well as `on the job` training also students who have completed their basic Apprenticeship or have the relevant qualifications to enter at Advanced level.

Who is the course for?
16-24 year olds interested in gaining a nationally recognised qualification in Engineering as well as `on the job` training also students who have completed their basic Apprenticeship or have the relevant qualifications to enter at Advanced level.

What is the course about?
The programme provides a structured approach to achieving skilled or technician status within the industry. This is an advanced study course following on from the NVQ2 course. You will specialise in one area from either; Electrical, Mechanical or Fabrication.

Students will also be required to complete the following:
-A Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) which is the underpinning knowledge part of the programme
-5 Key Skills at level 2 in Communication Application of Number Information Technology Improving Own Learning & Performance and Working with others

Will I need anything else?
You will be required to provide your own protective clothing and appropriate text books

How long & often do I attend?
The course consists of 1 day release at college and 4 days per week on the job.

How will I be assessed?
Students will be observed in the workplace and complete external examinations and assignment work. Students will also complete a Portfolio of evidence.

What opportunities will this lead to?
Further study may include HNC Engineering
Foundation Degree in Applied Technology
