About this course

Technical services has been developed for individuals whose job involves technical support in some form or another. Candidates for the Level 2 qualification will typically be operators or semi-skilled employees who wish to further their skills or those who wish to move on from Level 1 engineering qualifications.

Course Level Two

Description
Technical services are performed by those individuals whose work involves a technical support role. Technical services are provided by a host of different people within a company including planners, estimators, quality controllers, inspectors, testers, technical buyers, contract engineers, technical authors, materials schedulers, applications engineers, stock controllers - not just technicians.

Course Length
1 Year

What will I study?
At Level 2 the candidate must complete two mandatory units and one optional unit from a chocie of fifteen.

Candidates, if they wish, may do more than the minimum units to complete the full award or take additional units from other EAL awards. All units completed and evidence routes chosen will be shown on the certificate.

Mandatory Units:-

  • Determine requirements to achieve engineering objectives.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of work activities.

    Optional Units:-

  • Establish customer technical requirements.
  • Provide detailed drawings for engineering activities.
  • Provide technical information for engineering activities.
  • Develop technical engineering specifications.
  • Modify the properties of materials for engineering use.
  • Install engineering products/assets.
  • Configure engineering products/assets.
  • Plan engineering activities.
  • Conduct specified testing of engineering products/assets.
  • Monitor and assess the performance and conditions of engineering assets.
  • Check engineering product/asset compliance with specifications.
  • Contribute to improving the organisation';s working practices and procedures.
  • Control and monitor the use of allocated resources
  • Exchange responsibility for control of engineering products/assets.
  • Support technical sales transactions.
