Engineering Technical Support N/SVQ - Quality Control

N/SVQs are based on national industry standards. They recognise that candidates who have demonstrated their ability to reach the standard have the skill and associated knowledge to work safely and competently at the appropriate level in their chosen area. Those not completing the full qualification can gain a certificate for the units they have achieved.

Structure of the Qualification

The candidate is required to complete the three mandatory assessment routes, plus the required number of assessment routes from their choice of pathway.

Mandatory Assessment Routes

• Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
• Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
• Working efficiently and effectively in engineering

Pathway TSB: Quality Control

The candidate is required to complete all three mandatory assessment routes, plus one assessment route from the choice given below:

• Inspecting mechanical products
• Inspecting components using co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM)
• Inspecting fabricated components and structures
• Carrying out visual inspection of welded fabrications
• Inspecting and testing electrical products
• Inspecting and testing electronic products
• Checking and calibrating mechanical inspection equipment
• Checking and calibrating electrical and electronic test equipment
• Checking and calibrating process control instrumentation

Modern Apprenticeships are aimed at those aged 16 or above and capable of achieving a vocational qualification (VQ) at Level Two or above. The programme can be used to train existing employees or new employees. Any company in Scotland - whatever its size - can take part in the programme.
