English - Academic IELTS

Course Description

Students will practice past tests in the four aspects of language - reading; writing; listening and speaking. The teacher will help and direct students into correcting their own mistakes thereby reinforcing the lesson for the whole class.

Benefits

The IELTS test has become the standard measure of a student's command of English for entry to a UK university as well as for visa application purposes. It is quite different from general English tests and this course will give students a taste of what to expect.

The course prepares students not only for the IELTS test but also for academic exams. They will better understand how to interpret questions in terms of what the examiner is looking for in their answers; how to manage their time; how to organise their thoughts when writing and listen for key words when listening.

Course Content/Modules

The IELTS test is the same for students whether they are at 4.5 or 6.5 needing to achieve 7.0. The teacher will supplement the practice tests with specially prepared material and set assignments for completion by the next day's lesson.

Assessment

For an IELTS score, students will be assessed externally by the independent body.

Duration of Programme

The programme is continuous. Lessons are from Monday and Friday.
Students continue to attend for as long as they need to.
