English as a Foreign Language - Intermediate/Pre-Intermediate/Advanced
Level: This is a pre-intermediate/intermediate/advanced course.
(This course is not suitable for beginners) What is the English as a Foreign Language course? EFL classes are for speakers of other languages visiting England who wish to improve their English. You may also want to take a Cambridge qualification in English.
The course will give you the opportunity to meet others who also want to improve their English, providing you with an opportunity to make new friends.

Teaching and Learning Each student will complete an initial assessment during the first lesson to determine his or her current level of English. You will learn through a range of interesting and varied activities which aim to improve your knowledge of English grammar and widen your vocabulary, as well as teaching you skills to progress as an independent learner.
Assessment details Students will work towards one of the following University of Cambridge Examinations for Speakers of Other Languages. These qualifications are recognised worldwide.
Preliminary English Test (PET)
First Certificate in English (FCE) - The FCE demonstrates competency that would be acceptable for employment in many service industries.
Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) -The CAE demonstrates a standard of English sufficient for most purposes, including higher education and professional situations.
You will be able to take an examination in June (a minimum number of candidates is required).
Progression Students can progress through the examination qualifications.
Notes NB The College will be closed on Friday 11 June 2010 Extra costs : Writing materials and note book/A4 file, English Learner's dictionary, course book approximately £20, workbook approximately £10 and £60 optional exam fee.
