Who is this course for?
This course may be for you if you are a school leaver who wishes to improve an existing grade in English or if you are an adult who wishes to gain a recognised qualification in English. This course is not suitable for ESOL learners.

What are the entry requirements?
If you have studied English at GCSE before, you will need to produce evidence of a pass at grade D if you wish to retake the course. If you are coming to it for the first time, you will be asked to complete a short written task so that we can assess the standard of your English. All applicants are invited to an interview with one of the teaching team. A one-year course is intensive and demanding, so your written and spoken English must already be of a reasonable standard. We offer many courses in English and Communication which may be more suitable for your needs, and so we ask that before you apply for the GCSE English course, you discuss your plans with the College's Education and Guidance team.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.
