Part-time students should have gained GCSE grade C or above in English Language.

Entry Requirements
Students taking a full-time Advanced level programme should have gained 5 GCSE's at grade C or above including English Language GCSE.

Part-time students should have gained GCSE grade C or above in English Language.


AS Level English Language

Course Content
A2 Unit 3: Language Explorations; - 30% of total A level marks
A data-based essay on language variation, considering how and why language changes and varies. An analysis task examining how language is used, either spoken or written, to convey ideas and connect to their intended audiences.
A2 Unit 4; Language Investigations and Interventions - Coursework - 20% of total A level marks.
An original piece of language research and a written piece about a language issue or debate for a non-specialist audience.

What can I do next?
A Level English Language is a useful qualification for going on to Higher Education in any academic discipline. It is particularly useful for careers such as teaching, journalism and careers in Media. It is widely welcomed as evidence of students' written and analytical skills.
