What will I learn?
This course is suitable for those with a good standard of written English. During the course you will develop the capacity to express yourself effectively in a variety of speaking and listening activities, matching style and response to audience and purpose, to read accurately and fluently, understand and respond to literature from the English Literary Heritage and from other cultures and traditions, analysing and evaluating a wide range of texts, you will also be expected to construct and convey meaning in written language; using correct grammar and standard English, matching style to audience and purpose. Writing about literature is an integral part of the course and Shakespeare is also compulsory.

How will I be taught?
This course is taught in a classroom using varied teaching and learning techniques. You will have a mixture of group activities, discussions and practical activities.

How will I be assessed?
You will take an exam at the end of the year.
