What will I study?
AS - Creating Texts (coursework) will entail the production of a folder of original writing with accompanying analytical commentaries. Categorising Texts (exam) requires you to understand the ways in which writers adapt language for specific audiences and purposes and the way language is used in society today.

A2 - Language Investigation (coursework) is an individual investigation into a chosen area of language for coursework with accompanying article. Language Development (exam) is a study of the changes in English over the centuries and the study of the process through which children develop language, spoken and written.

Study Visits
Day schools at local universities.

Cost
Normally no more than £10 per visit.

Assessment
Two units for both AS and A2, one assessed by examination and one by coursework / project.

Useful supporting courses
This subject links well with English Literature. it also goes well with foreign languages and Media Studies and will fit almost any combination of subjects.
