English Language One Year Intensive GCSE
Content * The first part of the year will focus upon the coursework element, important aspects of which are response to literature (including some pre-twentieth century literature), personal writing, speaking and listening. This is worth 40% of the total grade. * You are likely to study a play, short stories or poetry. There will also be opportunities to study newspapers and advertising and you will be encouraged to write in as many different styles as possible. * In the second half of the year emphasis will be on examination, which is taken in June, and worth 60%. You will be given a booklet of pre-released material in the Spring Term, which you will work on in class. Assessment Method of assessment - * 60% exam * 40% coursework * Regular assignments marked to GCSE standard, speaking and listening assignments throughout the year.
