Course programme
The Edexcel A Level English Literature specification is structured into three units, assessed across three examinations and one piece of coursework. This course has been designed to reflect this, and will take students through each topic, as listed below:
Component 1: Drama
Students will study the following texts:
William Shakespeare, Twelfth Night
Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest
William Shakespeare, Shakespeare: A Critical Anthology - Comedy (This Edexcel publication is only available from your exam centre and you should ask your exams officer to order one in for you when you register for your exams.)
Component 2: Prose
Students will study the following texts:
Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale
Component 3: Poetry
Students will study the following texts (and they must study the stated editions):
T. S. Eliot, Selected Poems (Faber, 2009) ISBN 9780571247059 (This is the 80th Anniversary Edition in an attractive hardcover.)
