Aim Environmental and land-based industries account for a proportion of jobs and wealth creation in the national and global economy. The sector is extremely diverse and includes farming, agriculture, waste management, water, food production, sports, leisure and tourism, land management and forestry, animal health and welfare and environment conservation and landscape. With the increase in environmental awareness and the need for sustainable growth this is an ideal choice if you are someone who wants to make a difference to your own life and the future of your world. There are three themes: Productive and Working Environments, Plants and Animals and Developing the Sustainable Environment.
What will I study? At each level you may study some of the following topics:

Foundation (5 D-G GCSE)

· Production systems in the environmental and land-based sector
· Introduction to working and safety in the environmental and land-based sector
· Working with plants
· Working with animals
· Impacts on the environment and how they are managed

Higher (7 A*-C GCSE)
· Environmental influences upon ecosystems and production zones
· Working and safety in the environmental and land-based organisation
· Plants and animals: nutrition, growth and breeding
· Plants and their role in society
· Animals and their role in society
· The importance of a sustainable environment to society
· Environmental monitoring
· Sources and uses of energy.

Advanced (3.5 A levels)
· Ecology and production
· The management of biological an other finite resources
