Course programme
Developed and taught in partnership with the international equine industry, our course will give you the knowledge and skills you need to work in a variety of equine settings, as well as opportunities to specialise.
You’ll study a mix of general biology modules and specialised equine topics, including horse anatomy, physiology, health and traditional training methods. A great deal of the course however is practical, based in our own large equine centre.
During the course you’ll train in the science and practical techniques used by today’s modern industry, in fields such as:
- equine health, management and therapy
- artificial insemination and embryo transfer
- equine therapy and rehabilitation
- functional equine anatomy
- equine biomechanics
- equitation science
- advanced equine performance strategies
- equine sports and performance science
Our newly refurbished equine facilities include a rehabilitation centre. You’ll gain detailed experience and training on state-of-the-art equipment including an aqua treadmill, equine spa, solarium and equine gait analysis video system.
Equine professionals will be closely involved in your training and assessment - and you’ll visit equine events and establishments to see them at work.
Your course lectures will take place at the College of West Anglia and Anglia Ruskin University campuses – and you’ll enjoy student privileges at both. By the time you graduate you’ll be fully trained to work internationally.
