  • I will soon be beginning the third year of the course thus far it has been testing, helpful and compensating. The hands-on educating inside a portion of the modules is one of the best resources of the course , as you can truly apply what you have learnt in the classroom to this present reality. The speakers are all extremely learned and agreeable.

About this course

Our course will give you superb exposure to the world of working with horses, providing experience which will be attractive to employers. You’ll be in constant contact with local industry for assessments, giving you valuable knowledge and networking opportunities.

You’ll have the chance to complete short work placements, where you’ll apply the theory and skills you’ve learnt in the classroom. You’ll also spend at least six weeks on an equine work placement during your first summer break, unless you’re already employed in a business that will help with your learning.

When you graduate you could work in development or management positions in nutrition, breeding, welfare, livery and stud yards, riding schools and education and research institutions.

You’ll have a practical introduction to equine health and therapy, and develop your skills in handling and husbandry.

Together, we’ll consider the wider social, economic and ethical implications of equine science. You’ll understand the arguments and problems affecting equine welfare and explore how science contributes to debate and controversies, including around the quality and sustainability of life.

If your equestrian skills are particularly good, you could train and be examined for additional British Horse Society qualifications in care and riding at levels 1, 2 or 3.

You’ll have access to the full range of state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and software at Anglia Ruskin University and the College of West Anglia’s Equine Rehabilitation Centre.
