The Programme:

Equestrian Governing Bodies have recognised the need for the structured training and management of horses and riders in the UK. The Equine Sports performance programme is designed to reflect this changing industry. The course develops the students appreciation of all aspects of equestrian performance by a unique combination of equine and sport modules invested within the college. Understanding specific requirements in equestrian sport is addressed and the development of sound theories to underpin practical management of human and equine performance will be promoted. Students will make full use of the extensive sport and equine facilities at the college.

Special Features:
This unique course covers the scientific and practical issues associated with Equine Sports Performance specialising in both the horse and rider as an athlete. In the third year students will undertake the dissertation which provides the opportunity for individuals to do an in-depth study on a specialised topic within your chosen subject area. Students will also have the opportunity to improve practical equitation skills and/or take British Horse Society qualifications alongside the academic course to enhance their vocational qualifications and career options. Students may also train and compete in the College Equestrian team. Opportunities exist for students to gain valuable vocational skills by achieving the UK Coaching Certificate alongside their academic qualification.

Gain employment in many exciting positions within the equine and/or human sports industries. The nature and diversity of both the equine and sports industries mean that graduates may progress into a wide range of employment opportunities. Graduates may progress to Post graduate study by way of a Masters or Doctorate qualification.
